60 degrees and raining. As much as global warming scares me, it is hard not to love being able to feel my fingers after kayaking in January.

A steady rain two weeks ago brought a big crowd out for a day of high water runs in the small town of Douglas West Virginia on the North Fork of the Blackwater. The gauge read a juicy 1.9 on Sunday.

Pictures-courtesy of Peter Morey- are from monday. The river was much lower-about 1/3 of the flow from the day before. Monday’s level was about 1.5. Just enough for Gluteal!
