A tough boof on the Riñinahue.

Still down here in Chile making the most of low water. A group of us headed south from Pucon en route to the Futaleufu to hang out and kayak for the remainder of our stay here in Chile. On the way we ran the Salto del Nilahue and got a possible 1st descent of 2 drops on the Riñinahue near by. (more…)

After a long studying season I went to paddle a little in Galicia, Spain.

Galicia and Portugal are well known for its famous granite slides and drops, however we didn’t went there cause everything was dry, so we went to paddle the Ulla, a little river on the east. The river was really low however ther wasn’t anything else to do so… let’s get wet!

The past 3 weeks our team has been traveling around Patagonia seeking out some of the best whitewater on the planet. The weather has been perfecto and the rivers are la mismo. Our group, at one point of 8, now down to 5, spent a week on the Rio Futaleufu enjoying world renowned big water class 4-5, then spending some time across the border to the east in Argentina kayaking beautiful pool drop creeking, and the occasional park n hucks have been scaring the shitz out of us! Well after lots of rain here in the UK I decided to give my Rev a little rest and get out in my Burn for a change. As ever we had plans to try something new but the water wasn’t quite in the right place so we ended up on the Upper Tees but with plenty of water.

While everyone is travelling around to warm climates and tropical destinations, I have been braving the winter up here in New York’s Adirondack moiuntains. We started off with a ton of snow in December and the early part of January. Last week’s warm temps and rain opened up some January paddling for those that were tough enough to handle the cold.

In December, we headed down to Mexico to teach creeking for two weeks at the Huasteca Secreta resorts in San Luis Potosi state. Here are a couple of pics from two of the rivers - the Ojo Frio and the Cascadas Micos. All of our students had a great time paddling the fleet of Pyranha boats that we brought down there - Burns, Everests, and Ammos.

We have been in Chile for a little over two weeks. We have done some amazing runs, and some of the best kayaking in one of the most beautiful countries I’ve ever been. Pucon has been our main base, but with the water just about run out here we are getting ready to head south to the infamous Rio Futaleufu. On the 19th Nov a team of bald explorers, including Shalabh Gahault, Mike Abbott, Sam Hughes, Zak Mark, Sangrup (our driver from Ladakh) and myself loaded a jeep in Katmandu, Nepal and set course for Gauhati in Assam. 4 days later Andy Phillips arrived and they headed into the hills of Arunachal Pradesh aiming to complete several sections of un-run rivers and expecting to be challenged with situations requiring extreme bravery and ingenuity.

Jeremy and I on Hornbecks.
A little rain brought the water up around the Delaware Water Gap in N.E. Pennsylvania yesterday. A group of us got up early to harvest the goods on Hornbecks and Raymondskill creeks. Check out the video. For an indepth report on the day check out Jeremy’s website ChasingRain.com

Here are some shots of Ian Garcia and myself on our trip to Veracruz, Mexico. We had a solid group and managed to hit up most all of the sections on the Alseseca. The Alseseca River is one of the most amazing class 5 rivers I could imagine. Also included are shots from the Xico River. First shot is me on Trucha Falls Alseseca.

Graham racing the New Everest
Last weekend was the 12th annual Green River Narrows race. 124 racers made it out there Saturday at high noon to get fired up and race the Narrows home to the infamous Gorilla rapid(pictured above) in front of some 500 spectators. It was one of the best Green races to date with record times in almost every category. (more…)

After talking about it all summer we finally got a plan together and paddled the Raundalselve, in a DAY. Anyone who knows the Raundale knows just how much whitewater there is up there, with numerous sections that are all amazing and go at different levels. After in a seriously in-depth planning session (about a beer long) we called up Greg, Christy and Benji, set a time for the morning and checked the water levels and weather on the net. Early the next day we packed the van, took a few bikes and a VRS van to drop at various points for excape options and of to the top of the valley we went.!
