BoaterCross Race
Loopin the 4Twenty
Headed down to the Collegiate National Championships in Reno this weekend. Ended up making it to the semi-finals in the boatercross, it was a physical event with people taking paddles to the face quite a bit. Luckily no one got seriously injured. Levels were a bit low for the play spot I ended up one spot out of the final rounds. Won some money in the casino and had a good time for sure. Looking forward to the Reno River Fest in a couple of weeks. 4 Gates & a Sailing Boat. It Could Only be the Hurley Classic!!Monday, December 4th, 2006After much debate as to whether the event was going to be on or not, finally the time came for the Hurley Classic. A mixture of gates, some amusing classes and some good friends made for a great event. Big Boat BonanzaThursday, November 9th, 2006Never mind the Green Race, everyone knows that Ireland’s Big Boat Bonanza was the place to be last weekend…well for the party at least. A strong Team Pyranha contingent made their way to the bone dry Wicklow Mountains for yet another weekend of Guinness and carnage. Alan Ellard, Liz Bell, Bob Campbell, Ally Collett, Loz Brown, Deb Cook, Bob Marchant and Richard Brooks made the journey from the UK, meeting up with long time team pyranha members Kipper Maguire and Ali Donald. Pyranha Team members and friends at the Green Race 2006 (with pictures)Monday, November 6th, 2006
I was stoked to see so many Pyranha team members out there racing and see so many Burns tearing it up! The Green Race was a huge success this year with a record breaking 126 racers! Team Pyranha @ GBR Team SelectionMonday, October 16th, 2006Some good results all round for Team Pyranha at the British Freestyle Team Selection events for the worlds in Canada in 2007. Read on for a full report… Moose Fest…race results, party report, and some cool picturesMonday, October 16th, 2006Just got back from the Moose Festival weekend. I’m actually writing this as most people are still driving back from the Moose Fest. It was a solid weekend, starting with a great party on friday, followed by a sweet race, then another party pn saturday, and finally some more good boating on Sunday. The Race Results and more pictures are posted inside. British Freestyle Championships and Peak UK Challenge FinalTuesday, October 10th, 2006Well another weekend has flown by along with another event here in the UK. This time it was the British Freetstyle Championships held at Nottingham which was also the final of the 2006 Peak UK White Water Challenge Series. Team Pyranha had a fairly srong showing in the British Champs with James Barnes making it through to the Semis of the Mens K1. Ben White came in 2nd in the squirt after an unlucky final ride in the knockout and I came in 2nd in the C1s. Richard Brooks did well but didn’t quite live up to his recent form placing just outside the cut for the semis.
Sweet September in the Southeast!Thursday, September 28th, 2006It has been a busy month out here. Finishing up the World Cup, Gauley Fest, and a little Green in between. Jeremy and I decided to finish the remainder of the month after the Black Rodeo-with a Team road trip. We picked up new Team member Dave Fusilli and the three of us headed south to Asheville. Some Pics from the Mighty NeneFriday, September 22nd, 2006Here’s a few of pics from the Peak UK White Water Challenge at the Nene White Water Centre last weekend. The course is a small artificial course with the main play feature being good for pretty much any hole move going. People were hitting Phonix Monkeys, McNasties and all sorts with us C1 boys schooling the kayakers scores in the heats by over 200 points!!
Checking in. Here are some pics from a great year so far…Thursday, September 7th, 2006Taking some time off from school this year opened up my schedule for some epic kayaking trips. Starting off the year in Ecuador with a month-long kayak vacation set the bar for the months to come. Ottawa World Cup PhotosSunday, September 3rd, 2006Here are some pictures from the team at the first event of the first ever World Cup of freestyle kayaking, held at Garberator on the Ottawa river. Despite paddling injured, Jared Seiler threw some big moves for the crowd and finished 42nd
In the C-1 class, I took 6th place, missing the finals by one place. Considering that last year at the Ottawa rodeo, I missed the wave all three times in C-1, I’m pretty stoked with my finish. World Cup of Freestyle!Friday, September 1st, 2006Hey Guys, The world cup series starts tomorrow here on the Ottawa River. There are competitors from all over the world! Water levels have been ideal for the Garberator wave. |
