Disappointment at Sickline

For the 5th time in a row the adidas sickline extreme kayak world championships took place in Oetz/Austria at the weekend again. Great weather, perfect water levels and organization and especially the impressive list of world class kayakers made the event as amazing as every year. As I finished 3rd in 2010, there was a quite …

Freeride World Championships

From June 9th June 12th 2011 edition of the Freeride Worldchampionships took place in Valchiusella and Ivrea, which is in the beautiful Piemonte area in Italy. As the Kaiserklammtrophy in Austria in April was cancelled due to low water levels, this was the first extreme race on my calendar this season. The Teva event consists …

3rd place at Sickline Extreme Championships

Last Saturday I was able to reach the 3rd rank behind Sam Sutton/NZL and Michele Ramazza/ITA in the 2010 edition of the adidas Sickline Extreme Worldchampionships in the Oetz Valley/Austria, which I’m absolutely happy about. 150 competitors from all over the world absolved a tight qualification race first to determine the 48 kayakers who were …

Eiskanal-Boatercross

Last Saturday the first invitational boatercross race at the Eiskanal took place here in Augsburg as part of the slalom worldcup program. Organized by Arnd Schaeftlein and Jakobus Stenglein, incredible paddlers like Mike Dawson from NZ, Dejan Kralj (SLO) and Fabian Doerfler (GER) took part and fought for the 1st prize: a sweet mountainbike! In …

No more serious paddling this year…

The season is not that old yet, but it has already ended for me this year unfortuntely: Last week I got the confirmation that I have an herniated intervertebral disc, which was caused by kayaking and will probably keep me from paddling for the nexts weeks/months. Damn it… Hopefully it recovers fairly soon! Anyway, my …

Sickline!

Finally, the Sickline Extreme Kayak World Championships have taken place in the Oetz Valley in Austria during the last four days. Unlike last year, when the race had to be cancelled due to high water, the waterlevel was all right this time and pretty constant as well. The starterfield consisted of around 130 paddlers (5 …

Val Sesia!

The last couple of days I went creeking in the beautiful Val Sesia/Italy and took part in the Teva Outdoor Games. We ran the Egua and the Sorba several times to be well prepared for the race (downriver, team, slalom, sprint, boatercross), which offered some super-close results in the end! Our team (Jakobus Stenglein, Benny …
