Nicole Mansfiield suits up for the 30 foot Medina waterfall in Medina NY. This creek runs under the Erie Canal just before turning and falling about 30 feet.  So yes, essentially there is a river running over another river (canal) a little different to say the least.   The Erie Canal dumps water into the creek right above the waterfall making this park and huck runnable most days of the year!  Here is a video of Nicole sending this drop!  Click Here!

For every Kid, grown man, women or child the 1st trip down the very popular Green River Narrows is like Christmas morning.  This is a great day in any kayakers life.  Not only to run the Green, but to run all of the Green, the big 3 as they call them down there in NC.  I remember my 1st day down the Green for sure.  It’s just a damn good old time on the river.  I mean shit they even made a movie about it.   Check out Kid Chris’s video HERE.  It’s pretty damn good.

Demshitz goes on a wonderful trip to Washington state. Along the way we ended up running the Little White Salmon and it’s next door neighbor the Green Truss. Also, have you heard of Hamma Hamma falls. Well my friends it is a stout for sure. We ended up at a pretty nice party as well..enjoy!

Well another year another trip to Yule for demshitz.  Yule was a good bit lower than we have experienced on previous sessions.  I am not sure I liked it as much, however that could be because I crashed so big that right now my ribs still hurt.  This was about 4 weeks ago.  You will see why.  We are in Big Fork MT right now getting ready to head further west.  Saturday is a boat with the bros session at Alder Creek followed by a Dashboard Empanada premiere.  The very next day will be a similar situation at Aquasports in Redmond Washington.  Come Paddle demshitz!                  Yule Creek video HERE

After the Teva Mountain Games demshitz headed to Glenwood Colorado to surf a badass wave.  This wave is damn nice!  25,000 cfs was pumping down the Colorado river which is the highest flow in about 13 years.  People keep telling me different stories, but I’m going to go with this one.  Anywho, hope you like this shitz!!

IM OUT!!!

Here is a video update from our last few weeks in Colorado.  Right now rivers are flooding and the weather is hot.  I believe today’s temperature is going to break some records as far as heat goes here in Colorado.  I am working on a video from our surf sessions on the Glenwood wave so stay posted.  Next stop for Demshitz is the Lyons Mt. Well, here ya go the Molan is faster, looser, releases easier, lands switch (backwards) better, and is more comfortable than any playboat I have been in….. this is no joke!   Also the boat wraps your thighs way better than pervious boats which is adding much more control….. if your into that type of thing? Last week I was able to get the new Molan out and about.  I fit in the medium Molan very well.  I was able to where shoes in the boat at 6 foot and 170lbs.  The boat was very easy to through around and looped with ease.  I think you all are going to be very excited about this one.  Here is a video I made from the day!

The Yough Defense party at the Falls City Pub was a great success.  Money was raised to help preserve the Yough watershed.  Thanks to all involved in making this happen.   The Fern Cliff Collective kept the party bumpin playing all night long.  I really enjoyed the band.  Not only where they very talented, but Jess Hartman (rhythm guitar) is a long time kayaking partner of mine.  It was good to see those guys tearin it up, I was very impressed.  Here is a video form the party and some kayaking on the Yough.

Man, what a sick event!  The green race is straight up grass roots.  From the first racer out of the blocks to the bitter end of the after party.  Speaking of the after party, this was one of the best parties I have been to all year, kick ass for sure!   I, myself, didn’t go all that fast.  I hit some rocks, ran some stuff backwards, caught the notch eddy, anyway you get my point.  However, Pyranha did have three paddlers in the top ten;  Dustin, Rob, Jerry and Eric with a impressive 3rd place.  Here is a quick video showcasing demshitz.

Come one come all, its a Demshitz waterfall running clinic at Agers Falls.  If you are heading to Moose Fest meet at Mountain Man at 10:00 on Saturaday.  We will fall from 11-1.  Get better at timing your boof stroke.  Spot the lip, spot the landing.       First, I would like to say ‘thanks’ to Zoar Outdoors and the Zoar staff for helping create this year’s whitewater symposium.  The 2009 Whitewater Symposium was the first I ever attended.  If you have an interest in whitewater sports and it’s continued growth in the future,  this is an event you definitely should consider attending next year.  Personally, I instructed a creeking class and presented ‘Demshitz The Movie.’  I had the opportunity to learn from several presentations covering current issues ranging from creating media in the sport to conservation and access issues concerning our endangered rivers.  I leave this event with greater knowledge of how to build our sport as well as the work involved to keep our rivers open for business.

This week we drove south to the Portland area.  The first stop was Alder Creek kayaks. This was our next  video showing and we ended having a great turn out for the movie.  Hood River was our next stop.  On Saturday, we met at the Kayak Shed with a few locals from the area to paddle the Middle White Salmon.  It was a good paddle with some good folks.  Thanks for coming.  Here are some photos……

This weekend myself and the rest of those Demshitz made our way to Aquasports in Redmond Washington to paddle with the locals and premiere the movie.  The Skykomish was our river destination for the afternoon.  We enjoyed stout mountain peaks and crystal clear waters.  The run featured about 5 miles of class three with one stout called boulder drop.  After a hot day in the sun, we headed back to Redmond to watch Demshitz the movie, and have a few cold ones.  Thanks much to Charles at Aquasports for bringing it all together for us.  Thanks to his help there was a great showing on the river and everyone had a great time at the shop that evening.  We soon head to Canada….skookumchuck awaits us.  All we must do is make it across the border   Wish us luck.

Here’s a little vid of Lime creek.  This was about an hour and a half hike in for five good drops.  Thanks much to the new and super bad ass Pyranha Portage Pack… it made that shit pretty nice.

The last week Nicole, Jared, Myself and many more have been livin it up in Durango Colorado.  We arrived on Tuesday and headed straight to Bakers box.  A committing gorge with a stout hike in and a very very angry land owner.  The next day our good buddy Kevin Driscoll lead us up into the 2nd gorge of Lime creek.  A pretty stout hike to a another committing gorge with 5 great drops.  The tallest of the five called Viagra, about a 25 footer.  We shot a good bit of video on here but I don’t think I have any pics.  Stay posted for a video of the Lime creek.  The next few days where spent hangin out in Durango’s sweet playpark  for the Animas River Days, also Demshitz had a great Video Premier at Ska Brewing.  Saturday and Sunday I hung out with a fleet of demo boats from Mild to Wild rafting a new Pyranha dealer in Durnago.  If your in the area come check out Mild to Wild whether your looking for a new Pyranha boat or looking to raft several days on the Upper Animas.   Also on sunday Demshitz did a little freestyle competition with Jared ending up in 2nd myself in 3rd and Nicole taking the win for the females.  Sunday night we drove up the valley to the very clean and fun Vallecito creek.  We ran this sunday night, camped at the camp ground, woke up this morning, hiked up, and gaver again.  We are now driving back north towards Salida Co for FIBARk……wish us luck!

Paint Creek

     Jared, Nicole and myself have been driving  up the down the east coast sharing spreading the good word and premiering the new movie Demshitz the Movie along the way.  We started out with a great event at the Whitewater Warehouse in Ohio.  This event went very well, sharing our knowledge of the rivers with many of Demshitz up there.

We then traveled to the ASU campus in Boone NC bringing all of our new boats for all to try and love.  

The next step was NOC Demo Daze.

This Saturday was the 10th Annual American Whitewater Ohiopyle Falls Race in Ohiopyle Pennsylvania. Ohiopyle is my stomping grounds I think the first time I paddling the Yough river I was ten years old. This is a fun event for me because not only can I run a waterfall and do some competing but my father was able to run the falls and watch me compete. This year there were roughly 200 people from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and beyond in attendance for this years race and brutal freestyle event. The race involves a few class three rapids leading up to a 18 foot waterfall fastest times being around a minute. After the Race however there is a freestyle event which I ended up 2nd in this year. Falls Race is the only time when private boaters can legally tackle the Class III rapids and 18 foot waterfall because of the state park regulations. This is an obstacle that all of us kayakers are hoping to change. Here is a video from the event.

If you were near Avon Co this summer from the 15th of June to the 15th of Aug you had the opportunity to make $2,500 doing a little kayaking in Avon new playpark. The town put up the money and what you had to do was make a video of yourself in the playpark and the biggest air won. This was a way to get people into the park. If you check out the video you can see the town of Avon did a pretty good job making a sweet feature that will give up some pretty big air. Check this video of Demshitz takin the money!

For the last week and a half myself and Kevin Burkhead have been traveling the west coast, like Santa Clause during Christmas delivering fresh new kayaks to our west side dealers. Thus far we have brought smiles to the faces of our people in San Fransico, Bend OR, Hood River OR, Portland OR, Seattle and Belingham WA. Now with all this work being done it was of coarse essential for Kevin and Myself to have a little fun.

San Fran was the stop for our first adventure. Kevin and Myself grabbed a few sea kayaks and despite the great whites and extreme gnar winds we paddled out into the San Fran bay to check out the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz.

Crater Lake

Next was a quick stop at Crater Lake. The lake is 1,949 feet (594 m) deep at its deepest point which makes it the deepest lake in the United States, this is a very cool spot I like.

Mt. Hood

So after the Large Lake experience we rolled on and at about this point I’m sure Kevin was ready to get to Hood River because that was all I had been talking about for the last five days. Yes the Little White and White Salmon were running. So I like the White Salmon, but the Little White is just so damn good. We arrived in Hood Friday night just in time to meet up with our good friends LJ Groth, Max Blackburn, Miguel Sheilds, and Evan Garcia just to mention a few, and bust out a quick run on the White Salmon. All was going great, we just got out of the truck and we were finally kayaking until we reached BZ Falls were I was forced into preforming a wet exit. I got redemption the next day.

Well thats all for now Im going to go take a tour of Werner paddles the best paddles in the world and then do some more truckin, peace.

It’s a really chill run, mostly pool drop, a great river to get started into class 5. The 3 big drops, Cool World, Meltdown, and Double Trouble, are easily portaged, but Demshitz hate portaging, so we ran demshitz.

We did have one portage towards the bottom of the run. We called it Siphon Falls. The top part had some wood and a 10′ into an undercut shelf. We put in below it and it was A-ok to the bridge take out. Good times.

So, thats it for the demshitz tour. Graham flies back to his roofing job in Philly tomorrow, Jared is going to jail, And I am going to drive all over America in a few days. So, Ill let ya know when I get to kayak again, don’t hold your breath.
Demshitz will certainly be reunited by Gauley fest in September, hopefully sooner, but yinz should come dan ner in@ and have a few with dem.

Yosemite National Park

So Tuesday I found Myself and several damn good friends two of which we meet at the put in Byran Kirk and fellow Pyranha paddler Matt Young walking down a trail with like eighty pounds on our backs hiking into one of the coolest places on the planet, Upper Cherry creek. Last time I made it to Upper Cherry it was very high water preventing us to run the bigger gorges and drops. Two days ago, however was a different story. We had low water which was a bit slow for the upper section, but real nice for the bigger stuff. It’s hard to imagine this place, but I have several pics here for yinz. Keep posted for a video from Upper Cherry and the Middle Fork of the Kings which we will be making our way into on Saturday. This one is going to be a hell of an ass kicker, 15 miles hiking, 30 some kayaking and top it off with a 2 mile hike out. DEMSHITZ

We will be meeting at 9:30am at CKS in Buena Vista CO. From 10:00am-1:00pm we will start heading up the Arkansas river to work on our river running skills. After a short break we will then head to the new and refined Buena Vista playpark to lock down some of those playboating tricks we have all been trying to figure out. This should run from about 2:00pm-4:00pm. After we have all become better whitewater kayakers we will all join together to enjoy some cold beverages and free stickers sponored by demshitz. Upper Blackwater

Jared, Graham, and I arrived back east just in time to paddle some of the classic runs we learned to kayak on. We ended up runing the Upper Blackwater, Upper Yough, Top Yough, and Big Sandy all at good flows and some of the warmest days I’ve ever paddled these runs. That night myself and a few friends headed over to the put in of Red Creek about a 30 minutes drive to camp and run the creek in the morning….
When we got there Friday night the river was high looking good for the morning. Saturday morning ended being a low water run of Red Creek in the snow. I headed back to DC after a cold day in the Burn for 2 days of playboating on the Potomac up stream at Harper’s Ferry. Here are a few loops from Sunday
